North Queensland dominates the Australian Basketball Association after the emphatic National Championship successes of the Cairns Batercard Marlins and the Aubrey & Associates Townsville Flames in Melbourne on Sunday afternoon. To further reinforce the North Queensland domination of the ABA was the awarding of the Grand Final MVP's to Aaron Grabau (Cairns) and Rohanee Cox (Townsville). All Marlins are Cairns based players.Cairns and Townsville both had 3 members of the repective All Star 5's and each member of the Womens All Star 5 played their basketball in North Queensland in 2006.

Both Teams finished the 2007 season with 24 wins and 1 loss.

The Bartercard Marlins lost a close game to Rockhampton in Rockhampton.

The Flames lost to our very own Cairns Down Under Tours Dolphins in Round 1 making the Dolphins the only team which defeated the 2007 National Champions.
